| Mr . Dill was born and raised in Corsicana, Navarro,
Co. Texas where he began learning his cowboy skills from "Pop" Edens on
one of the famous Edens ranches.
He earned a Masters Degree from Sam Houston State University
in Huntsville, Texas and worked for the USDA for nearly 34 years.
After retirement Mr. Dill has devoted his full time
to writing and reciting his cowboy poetry and ranching at his Z D Ranch
in Hubbard, Texas. He has been recognized by the state conservation
districts for his work in grass production and conservation.
He wrangled in a national park in Colorado for part
of the summer of 1997 before a kidney stone cut short his mountain wrangling
career.
In 1998 Mr. Dill has recited his cowboy poetry at Old
Fort Parker, The Hubbard Cowboy Jamboree, A night in the Park in Grosebeck,
The Hart ranch Roundup. The ZD Ranch roundup and ride as well as
several local trail rides and horse training clinics.
Mr Dill has sold five poems to a Eastern Publisher
and his work has been published. His work is appearing on several
internet web sites and he was Awarded the "Muse Award" by the Arcanum
Café for his work during the month of June 1998.
He was named Cowboy Poet of the month for August 1998
by the notorious Clanton Gang on their extensive western web site. At one
of his recent appearances the president of his local story tellers guild
told the audience to listen carefully, or they might miss something, as
Mr. Dill expressed his sly and dry humor in his poetry.
In October 1998 Mr. Dill appeared at the Will James
Society convention in Oklahoma City, Ok. He was also the featured guest
poet on KOKL radio, Okmulgee Ok. Chute 1 with Justin Deemer.
Mr. Dill has wrangled in the Hill Country Natural Area
near Bandera, Texas where he wrangled with a group of entertainers
and wranglers from the hill country guiding a party on a 3 day rides in
that park.
Most recently he has entertained at the Athens Country
Club in Athens, Texas where he performed for the 20th year awards banquet
of the Henderson County Horse Committee of the Extension Program Building
Committee.
Mr. Dill is a licensed auctioneer and conducts general
and horse auctions. He has conducted some of his auctions from horseback.
